Pentatoma rufipes

Forest Shieldbug - A shieldbug that favours alder and oak trees. Its broad shoulders identify it although colour can vary slightly. Not really a friend of the gardener as this shieldbug can cause damage to fruit trees. Shieldbugs live for about a year. They die after laying eggs in spring. This one observed in Greaghnafarna early September.
