Crocothemis erythraea
Broad Scarlet - identified by being completely red with the deep yellow patches at the wing base. An African species that’s made it all the way up to France. It is a very rare visitor to the UK on occasions. It's habitat is both running and standing waters in the sun. It is not really seen in shaded pools or dense forests. They tend to perch on sticks, reeds or stones near water, flying out to catch insects then returning. I photographed this one at Vilamoura reedbeds in Portugal.
