Calliptamus italicus

Italian Locust - This species is native of the of Central Asia and also present in most of Europe. Around 25 mm long, females are larger. Perfectly camouflaged. More often seen in flight than on the ground. This one photographed in Vilamoura reedbeds in Portugal.
