Irish Hare - The Irish hare is legally protected by the Wildlife Act (1976) They can reach speeds of 72 kilometres an hour! Young hares are known as leverets. Most of these were photographed in the Greaghnafarna area of Co. Leitrim. The last one was a hare scurrying across a salt pan in Cabanas de Tavira. It had just spotted a local with his dog!
