Irish Hare - The Irish hare is legally protected by the Wildlife Act (1976) They can reach speeds of 72 kilometres an hour! Young hares are known as a leveret. Most of these were photographed in the Greaghnafarna area of Co. Leitrim. The last one was a hare scurrying across a salt pan in Cabanas de Tavira. It had just spotted a local with his dog!
