Nephila clavipes

Golden Silk Orbweaver - noted for the impressive webs they weave. Golden orb-weavers reach sizes of 4.8–5.1 cm. The prey is small flies and beetles to larger cicadas and locusts. The web structure is so strong birds and bats have been known to become entangled! I photographed this one at Mon Repos Queensland Australia.
