Orthetrum cancellatum
Black-tailed Skimmer - Confined to the lower two thirds of the UK and sometimes in Ireland. Found at most open waters along the shorelines. The male has a blue abdomen. This newly emerged dragonfly is a male and the abdomen will turn to blue later. Photographed on the banks of the river Derwent in Derbyshire.
