Oedipoda caerulescens
Blue-winged Grasshopper - This grasshopper is named for the bright blue wings seen in flight. It's a pity that it was too quick for me! As of most grasshoppers the diet is mainly grasses. It frequents dry areas of sand or rocks with low vegetation. I briefly caught sight of these in the Cabanas De Tavira and Vilamoura areas of the Algarve in Portugal.
